The Easy Winners by Scott Joplin (1901)
Original listing and sheet music here: https://musescore.com/user/36482158/s... A winning rag from the King of Ragtime Writers, Scott Joplin (1867?-1917), one of the follow-ups to his initial success, "The Maple Leaf Rag". This rag was published in 1901, the year Joplin transitioned from Sedalia, Missouri to the big city St. Louis. "The Easy Winners" was published by Shattinger Music in St. Louis but was soon picked up by Joplin's normal publisher, Stark Music who had also moved to St. Louis from Sedalia. The edition you see here is the Shattinger edition with several corrections made by Vera Brodsky Lawrence, published in the book "Scott Joplin Collected Piano Works". The Shattinger original score is from Indiana University at this link: https://fedora.dlib.indiana.edu/fedor... For a detailed description of edits made please see James Brigham's excellent transcription of "The Easy Winners" at this link: https://musescore.com/james_brigham/s... I have sought to reproduce the edition seen in the book mentioned above. Thanks to Mitchy for getting me to do this great rag; JohnJ1995 had also suggested it earlier. Mitchy also found a Joplin self-published edition of "The Easy Winners", here at the Library of Congress site: https://www.loc.gov/resource/music.mu...
