34 France: Lyon on the Rhône and the Saône

34 France: Lyon is where we transitioned from the Rhône to the Saône river. It was a milestone in our journey and it was quite the stop for five nights! Lyon is known for its historical, cultural and culinary surprises and we enjoyed many of them. On Monday, March 30, 2026, we departed from Vienne for Lyon on a cloudy and slightly rainy day, but we did not mind because no wind was forecasted, so the wind chill was less of a factor as we motored our way north on the river.
