Can You Shoot Long Range with a .223 / 5.56?

Let's shoot a couple rifles (both a .223 and a 5.56) from 100 yards, all the way out to 1,000 yards to discuss if you can you use a .223 / 5.56 cartridge for long range precision shooting.
