We Toured 14 Rentals in Cuenca, Ecuador… Here’s What Surprised Us (Part 1)

When we first moved to Cuenca, Ecuador, we toured 14 different rentals across the city to figure out what neighborhoods, layouts, and price ranges actually made sense for our family. We kept seeing videos showing beautiful $400 apartments… and those do exist. We even know people paying around $250 for simple, comfortable suites. But we also wanted to understand the mid-range and high-end options — the spacious condos, modern buildings, and family-friendly homes that are still a fraction of U.S. rental prices. In this video, we’re sharing the first 4 places we saw when we arrived. No hype, no “look how cheap this is,” just a real look at what you can expect if you’re moving here and want more space, amenities, or comfort. Rental ranges in Cuenca: • Suites + studios: $250–$400 • Mid-range apartments: $500–$700 • High-end or luxury: $800–$1,500 (All still dramatically less than U.S. prices — a 2-bedroom in Madison, WI averages $1,700–$2,400.) This is Part 1 of our rental series. We’ll show you all 14 properties we toured, including a few surprises, a couple near-perfect options, and what helped us figure out where we eventually wanted to be. 👉 Subscribe because after the tour series, we’re sharing a full Cuenca Neighborhood Guide to help you understand where everything is and which areas might fit your lifestyle. ☕ Optional one-on-one conversations via Buy Me a Coffee (45-minute one-time call or 30-minute monthly option) 👉 https://buymeacoffee.com/genxpat Merch: https://genxpat.myshopify.com/
