Villeneuve has spoken candidly about how watching Dr. No with his father as a child left a lifelong impression, igniting his love for cinema and sparking a dream to one day direct a Bond film of his own. That dream is now a reality. What makes Villeneuve such a perfect fit isn’t just his technical mastery or command of tone and atmosphere—though those would already put him leagues above most—but the fact that he understands Bond.
