The Impact of Childhood Trauma on Adult Mental Health
Experiencing trauma in childhood can have a profound impact on individuals, affecting all areas of their lives, including their mental health, behaviours and relationships as they grow into adulthood. By definition, childhood trauma occurs at developmentally critical moments, and its impacts can be deep and far-reaching. Instances of childhood trauma may range in severity; it can include divorce or parents playing favourites at the lower end of the severity scale, to cases of child abuse, sexual abuse or parents struggling with addiction at the other end of the scale. Join us for our next Facebook Live event, hosted by Diane Young, South Pacific Private’s Addictions and Trauma Specialist. Diane will share her insights on childhood trauma, and how it connects to adult mental health and offer ways you can seek support for yourself or a loved one.
