In this video i narrate and explain the story "Giants of Malta" in Manipuri language. Long ago, before the dawn of written history, the Maltese islands were said to be home to giants—beings of immense strength and size. According to legend, these giants built the island’s mysterious megalithic temples, such as Ħaġar Qim, Mnajdra, and Ġgantija, which still stand today. The most famous tale tells of a giantess named Sunsuna (or Sansuna). She was said to live in Gozo and built the Ġgantija Temples—whose name literally means “the place of giants.” The story goes that she carried massive stones from far away while nursing her baby, eating only broad beans for strength. She built the entire temple complex on her own to house her people or as a place of worship for ancient gods. Modern archaeology shows that these temples were built between 3600 and 2500 BCE, long before the Egyptian pyramids, by a prehistoric people whose true methods remain unknown. The stones weigh up to 50 tons, so it’s easy to understand why ancient Maltese believed only giants could have built them. Thus, the “Giants of Malta” live on as symbols of both human ingenuity and mythic wonder — bridging the gap between legend and archaeology.
