We present to you a report from the 6th Burtaev Readings, dedicated to one of the most complex problems in nuclear physics: explaining the abundance of chemical elements and their isotopes in nature. Modern nuclear models (droplet, shell) simply do not address the question: why do some elements have 10 stable isotopes, while others have only 1? However, Yu.V. Burtaev's FGH model provides clear and illustrative answers based on nuclear structure. In this video, you will learn: The main rules of abundance according to Burtaev: equatorial-axial symmetry, uniform filling of the neutron belts (G-belts), and the influence of the spin and orbital of the cap neutron. Examples: ✅ Tin (Sn, 10 isotopes) — why ¹²⁰Sn is the most abundant (perfect filling of all belts) and why ¹¹⁵Sn and ¹¹⁷Sn are less abundant (the presence of spin on the cap neutron). ✅ Tellurium (Te, 8 isotopes) — how core asymmetry (an alpha cluster on one side) limits the number of stable isotopes and shifts the maximum abundance toward heavier isotopes. ✅ Palladium (Pd, 6 isotopes) — why replacing the trigel with an alpha particle reduces the number of stable configurations. ✅ Indium, Manganese, Rubidium (1 stable isotope each) — how strong core asymmetry makes the remaining isotopes radioactive. A historical episode with Yu. Ts. Oganesyan: Andrei Yuryevich Gryaznov recounts how, in the late 1990s, Burtaev's predictions for the products of bombarding plutonium with calcium-48 exactly matched the experimental data obtained in Dubna. This proved the power of the structural approach. Three allotropic modifications of carbon (graphite, diamond, and "living" carbon): It turns out that different forms of carbon are a consequence of different nuclear configurations, which, in turn, form the electron shell. Uranium also has 3 nuclear allotropes!
