Armaleggan Border Morris dance "Upton Stick Dance" Oxford Folk Festival 19th-21st April 2024

From Armaleggan web page. We’re a mixed side – mixed genders, mixed ages, a mixture of tradition and innovation, and do not mind mixing our drinks. We practice at Cumnor Village Hall just outside Oxford, and dance all over Oxfordshire, the Cotswolds and beyond. Every penny of the money we collect is donated to a different local charity each year . To date we have raised over £23,000 for our designated charities. Oxford Folk Festival 19th-21st April 2024 Like a phoenix from the flames, or perhaps more like a duckling that dreams of becoming a swan, members of the former volunteer committee are continuing the folk festival after the sad demise (after a brilliant decade) of Oxford Folk Weekend. We are now, with Tim Healey's permission, the Oxford Folk Festival 2024. We have a domain name (oxfordfolkfestival.org.uk) and even a nascent website, thanks to donated time from Jack Evans. This year we are ALL volunteers, as there is no budget, but we have been heartened by the generosity of our many supporters who have decided to donate their time as performers or behind-the-scenes helpers to make this event a success. Be assured that as usual, the streets will be full of colour and music from the morris dancers, while key locations in the centre of town will be showcasing our Oxford and Oxon performers.
