Our particular focus for this webinar was on where the rubber hits the road for the new model of statutory local growth plans – where’s the capacity to deliver on them and how will it be connected across national, regional and local government? An emphasis on ‘mission led’ government portends a return to directing the white heat of government focus and ‘deliverology’ on single issues and ‘wicked’ societal problems such as poverty, inequality and sustainability, homelessness, rough-sleeping – in addition to the statutory requirement for local growth plans. In this last policy webinar before the Local Government Association Conference 2024, we asked: What does local government require to boost its own capacity to prepared and scale up to radical place-based transformation moonshots in the future?
