Class 305's, 91's, HST, 37's and 66's at Prestonpans. 23rd February 2000

We begin our time at the station on the East Coast Mainline near Edinburgh with 305501 departing with the 10.37 Edinburgh-North Berwick. A short while later 91027 passed with the 10.00 Glasgow Central-Kings Cross, followed by 91029 on the 07.00 Kings Cross-Edinburgh. 66048 then passed through with a short 6B48 Millerhill-Oxwellmains conveying two repaired PCA wagons, 37888 powered through with the 6S54 North Blyth-Mossend, 305501 is seen again returning from North Berwick and 305502 is seen with the 11.37 Edinburgh-North Berwick. 91018 speeds towards Edinburgh with the 08.00 Kings Cross-Glasgow Central, 66029 passes with the 6B44 Oxwellmains-Powderhall 'Binliner', 305502 returns from North Berwick, 43109 and 43119 power through with the 09.55 Aberdeen-Kings Cross and 305501 departs again for North Berwick. 66048 is seen this time at the head of the 6D38 Oxwellmains-Uddingston cement, 66001 works the 6E25 Falkland Yard-Doncaster Decoy Yard loaded MGR which was lopped at Prestonpans to allow 91029 to pass on the 13.30 Edinburgh-Kings Cross. The 14.00 Edinburgh-Kings Cross is seen next with 91016 on the rear followed by 66171 at the head of the 6S05 Tyne Yard-Mossend empty MGR, 66159 on the 6E69 Inverness-Hartlepool pipe empties, 66024 on the 6S38 Doncaster-Falkland Yard empties and 66059 crosses gingerly into the loop for Cockenzie Power Station with the 7B65 from the nearby Blindwells Opencast mine, which then reverses into the power station. Having run round the train 66059's driver awaits the signal to run into the unloading bay. 37896 is also seen having worked an earlier train to the power station. We conclude with 305501 arriving with the 15.20 North Berwick-Edinburgh.
