What is the Harmonic Minor scale?
The harmonic minor scale is one of the three main minor scales. Its greatest quality is that it allows us to write functional harmony, even though we're not in the major key anymore! The harmonic minor may only be one note different than the natural minor (also known as the 'aeolian mode') but that raised 7th note makes all the difference to how this scale sounds and how it can be used in practice. 📌NOTE: The original version of this video had other examples in it that I have now cut out as in hindsight I didn't think they were actually very good representations of the harmonic minor scale. An extra special thanks goes to Vidad Flowers, Daniel Long, Bruce Mount, Toot & Paul Peijzel, the channel’s Patreon saints! 😇 SUPPORT ME ON PATREON: / davidbennettpiano
