"A Green Light?!" | Home Office Project Looking Into The Resolution Of Medical Cannabis

The Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs has wrapped up its latest call for evidence on medical cannabis, kicking off what will be the most thorough review of the UK’s medicinal cannabis framework since it launched in 2018. Commissioned by the Home Office in June 2025, the three-year project will look at whether the current system for prescribing, supplying, and researching medical cannabis is working as intended — and whether it has delivered on the goals set when cannabis was moved from Schedule 1 to Schedule 2 almost seven years ago. While the full review is still some way off, a new report this month from the General Pharmaceutical Council offers the clearest picture yet of how medical cannabis is being dispensed across the UK.
