Rescuing a Watercolor / Mixed Media Project | Part 1

Part 1 Correction: 3:00 - Acrylic is opaque, I misspoke. Every project has its challenges, but this was a challenge I was not expecting - the paper rejecting the watercolor completely instead of absorbing it. Come along as I troubleshoot my way through completely this detail-intense illustrative series that is rendered in mixed media. The materials I am using (or am expecting to use) are fine-tip pen, watercolor, and colored pencil. Even though the art pad is rated as mixed media quality, it is simply not the case this time. The paper refuses to absorb the watercolor which is resulting in me being unable to layer the watercolor - my initial plan. The underpainting and the color layers were going to be done in watercolor, with the final highlights and lowlights being achieved in colored pencil. Since adding a color layer of watercolor is reactivating the underpainting, I cannot not proceed with the original plan of action. Maybe this is a dilemma you have come across when working in mixed media or one you wish to avoid in the future. Either way, this will possibly be most helpful for the mixed media artist. #MixedMediaArt #Watercolor #WatercolorTutorial #WatercolorTips #MixedMediaArtist #ArtProcess #ArtTutorial #ColoredPencilArt #PenAndInk #MixedMediaArt #WatercolorTutorial #WatercolorProblems #ArtTroubleshooting #ArtworkRescue #WatercolorProblems #ArtTroubleshooting #WatercolorMistakes ______________ Licensing Library & Design Blog: www.lightelementalsllc.net Stay connected.
