April 14, 1996 - Just two months prior to becoming the first guard to be drafted straight out of high school (13th overall by the Charlotte Hornets), Lower Merian (PA) High School star Kobe Bryant made a successful appearance at the 1996 Magic Johnson Roundball Classic (formerly known as simply The Roundball Classic and Dapper Dan Roundball Classic). Bryant's appearance was punctuated by an emphatic poster dunk over future NBA All-Star Jamaal Magloire. Other players of note in this game: Richard Hamilton, Malik Allen, Tim Thomas, Ed Cota, Loren Woods, Lester Earl, and Jason Hart.
