Preparación de la tierra y siebra de patatas

Hello 👋 friends, today we're seeing how we prepare the soil and plant Desirée variety potatoes. We've taken the sow thistle plants from a raised bed and fed them to the chickens 🐔 for a while. We've kept the remaining roots and some stems with leaves for compost. We loosened the soil with a garden fork and fertilized it with horse manure, humus, and worm castings. We also added homemade compost, all well mixed into the soil. Then we moved on to planting the potatoes, sprinkling them with diatomaceous earth to disinfect and heal the wounds, and to keep pests away. We made holes about ten centimeters deep to bury the potatoes 🥔. The soil needs to be slightly moist for the potatoes to sprout. Now we just have to wait for the harvest, which will take between four and six months depending on the climate of your area. We encourage you to start planning!
