Awesome Lighting of the Sails OPERA MUNDI 2026 #VividSydney #sydneyoperahouse

World renowned French multimedia artist Yann Nguema, celebrated for mesmerising projections onto important buildings worldwide, transforms Sydney Opera House sails with a unique fusion of science, music, and computer programming in his major new work, 'Opera Mundi'. Produced by Anima Lux, with a score by Romanian classical and electronic composer Mischa Blanos, this breathtaking original commission is a powerful ode to transformations within nature and the landscape—land, sea, and sky—that inspired Sydney Opera House architect Jørn Utzon. The complex, fragile beauty of living things has inspired artists and architects for millennia. Among them, Jørn Utzon designed the Opera House as an organic piece of architecture, whose forms evoke unfurled sails, or shells, sculpted by the elements. Inspired by the iconic silhouette of Sydney Opera House, 'Opera Mundi'—which translates as ‘works of the world’—embraces and extends this connection with nature. The lightshow animation transforms microcosms into luminous, kinetic forms, emphasising relationships in the natural world. Subtle details reveal the sublime forms and mechanics of living things. Each sequence provides a visual interpretation of natural phenomena, through Nguema’s unique vision. Generously supported by the French Embassy in Australia.
