Kirkland Signature, Blended Scotch Whisky Review

Today we review our another new Kirkland (Costco) whisky...their Blended Scotch!!! All of the Kirkland Scotches are sourced by independent bottler Alexander Murray, based in Calabasas, CA. The company sources and bottles for several different retailers, including Trader Joe’s and Total Wines & More. According to the company, they blend to reproduce a profile that is similar to that of market leaders in the category...so think Dewar's The nose is sweet with an earthy and malt note coming through...not very strong but not unpleasant. The palate is a little thin but there is a lot of sweetness with a touch of a barrel note and some citrus. The finish carries through the notes from the palate but is a little thin and short. After a few drops of water, a smoke/barrel note becomes more apparent. The palate now has more smoke/char and the ethanol ramps up a touch. The finish moves right back to many of the sweet notes. The fact that this is 1.75L for $25...this is a solid blended Scotch and a ridiculous value!! Cheers!!! We will continue to sample a number from the Kirkland's lineup over the next few weeks.
