We often talk about who is considered a local in Hawaii versus who isn't. And while that's an interesting and fun discussion, I wanted to move the discussion more towards the idea that it's okay that some people will never be considered local, even if they do all the "right" things. While whether someone is local or not can create instant connection between two people, I've found that beyond that initial interaction it is much more important who the person is.
