Stockton International Riverside Festival 15: Instant Light - SIRF Community Carnival

Are you sitting comfortably? We have an amazing story to tell you… SIRF Community Carnival 2015 really brought the Instant Light story to life with a magical tale of how Stockton became a festival town. Imagine Stockton High Street in 1826. Chemist John Walker is about to invent the friction match and Vesta, a circus performer has just come to town with her circus for the winter. A magical story unfolds combining historical truth with all the thrills of the circus to create a mythical version of what might have been – a truly inspiring theme for the 2015 carnival! An explosion of colourful costumes and carnival beats will bring together groups from across the borough to show off their beautiful creations! From 12noon follow the parade from Church Road, down Stockton High Street, ending on Riverside Road with a fantastic finale performance. The carnival was followed by an afternoon of fun activities and performances for families on the Riverside.
