Every Thought Captive Week 3: Excess of Nothing
In Ephesians 4:17 Paul instructs, ‘So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking.’ The futility of thinking is an emptiness that comes not because there is a lack of something, but because there is an excess of nothing. ‘Excess of nothing’ describes the thought patterns of our day. With 24 news cycles, endless social media platforms and a readily accessible smorgasbord of distractions, our minds are constantly being filled with nothing. Learning to take every thought captive retrains us to avoid filling our minds with an excess of nothing. An excess of nothing squeezes out what matters most in life, but more seriously squeezes out Who matters most in life. ---- Southeast Christian Church has multiple campuses spread out across the Kentuckiana region.
