1988 - Cavallerizzo, CS - Italia

July 16, 1988 - Cavallerizzo, Province of Calabria, Italy. The hometown of my grandfather, Nicola Caracciolo (born in 1925 to Francesco Caracciolo & Ermerina Lecce). In this video, the old town of Cavallerizzo celebrates The Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel with a procession through the old town. You can hear the local dialect Arbërisht (Italo-Albanian) being spoken throughout the video. My Dad, Pasquale Pollera is videotaping, while my Mom Armelinda Caracciolo is guiding my 5 year old self in the blue dress, while my brother, Agostino Pollera (12) watches on the side. My Mom's cousins Giorgio Ricioppo, Francesca Ricioppo with her son Francesco Novello and Tilde Perrone with her children Pippo & Venere Ricioppo are also in this video. On March 7, 2005, the old town of Cavallerizzo was evacuated due to a devastating landslide. The "New Cavallerizzo" (Nuovo Cavallerizzo) was built approximately three kilometers (about 1.86 miles) south of the old town.
