We Lost 132 Meat Chickens in One Storm

We experienced one of the hardest losses we’ve had on the homestead. The weather forecast showed clear and beautiful weather for the next 10 days, so we decided it was finally safe to move some of our 3-week-old meat chickens out from the high tunnel and onto pasture. Out of our 202 birds, we moved 132 outside. Later that same day, a sudden and severe rainstorm hit our farm, and unfortunately we lost all of the meat chickens we had moved out. In this video, we share what happened, what we learned from this tragedy, and the difficult realities that can come with raising animals on a homestead.
