DOMENIC TROIANO - CANADIAN ICON (Mandala-Bush-James Gang-Guess Who)
For 2 summers in 1966 & '67, THE UGLY DUCKLINGS played many double & triple bills, with MANDALA ( sometimes along with Roy Kenner & The Associates). We knew their whole show inside-out! They were magical & they had an incredible effect on the Music Scene in Toronto. Bands took note. They watched, they listened...... Some even imitated Dom & the guys. But they didn't have Dom, & they didn't have George, and they didn't fit together as a unit - like Mandala did. Domenic admitted he idolized Robbie Robertson, but in a very short time after Mandala came on the scene, there were dozens of guitarists in the city checking him out @ each & every gig! Robbie left to go with Dylan & Dom became the man! He set the example.......... And he set it as a real gentleman, with a great smile & no sign of an inflated ego. This Video is his story in his own words. ENJOY!
