Why didn’t Hitler End the War when he Failed to get the OIL of the Caucasus?

If the lack of oil was the main reason Germany lost WW2, then why didn't Hitler end the war when he failed to get the oil of Maikop and Grozny, which he himself said he would do? Also, Göring seems to not think the oil crisis was a problem. Why?
