In this video, I return to searching abandoned ponds for trapped animals, but this time with a very special goal: to try and beat my record by finding one of the most elusive snakes in these places, the grass snake. What seemed like just another day of rescues turned into a day full of surprises. During our search, we found various animals trapped in ponds, such as snakes, lizards, and rabbits, and each rescue demonstrated once again the danger these traps pose to wildlife. Abandoned ponds can become veritable death traps: many animals fall in seeking water or shelter, but then can't get out because of the smooth, slippery walls.
