The Gombori Pass is a picturesque mountain pass in Georgia. The road runs at an altitude of 1,600-1,650 meters above sea level. It connects Tbilisi and the main city of Kakheti, Telavi. The road through it serves as a short and beautiful route between the regions. Alaverdi Monastery, founded by Assyrian fathers in the 6th century, is located 20 km from Telavi. On the highway, 9 km from Telavi, there is another relatively new monastery, dating from the 16th century, founded by Queen Tinatin-Akhali Shuamta. The monasteries are interesting for both their historical sites and their Orthodox shrines.
