At that time, he was the youngest competitor ever to skate in the Championships. During the 1964 Olympic Games in Innsbruck, Allen finished in 4th place after the compulsory figures with a loss of 28 points to Karol Divin and 18 points to Alain Calmat. However, he did have a good draw: he competed second-to-last and felt ready to catch a good opportunity to win a medal. His free skating was rich, not only in jumps, but also in various showy gestures which did not fully correspond to the International Skating Union rules. His free skating was evaluated very well and finally he gained the bronze medal with a loss of only 3.1 points to the silver medal, won by Alain Calmat. Two days before his 15th birthday, he became the youngest medalist at the Winter Olympics. Scott Allen still holds the record for the youngest male medalist and the youngest individual medalist. The year after, Scott Allen placed 2nd at the 1965 World Figure Skating Championships in Colorado Springs. After his skating career, Allen went on to graduate from Harvard and then from Columbia Business School. He worked in the men's clothing business for about 30 years. He continues to skate and follow the sport.
