Today we have brought for you the story of a person who was not an Indian but had India in his soul. Whose childhood was spent in the lap of the forest and youth was spent hunting tigers. The interesting thing is that despite being a hunter, he looked at humans and animals in the same way. Instead of hating the cannibals, he thought it important to know why they became cannibals. This story is of Jim Corbett alias Carpet Saheb. Jim Corbett: James A. Jim Corbett (25 July 1875 - 19 April 1955) was an Indian writer and philosopher of Irish origin. He fought for human rights and also started the movement for protected forests. He had built a house in Kaladhungi near Nainital. This place even today gives the tourists visiting here the knowledge of the life of a person who was not only a hunter but also a conservationist, leather worker, photographer of wild animals and a carpenter. He killed many man-eating tigers in Garhwal district of Uttarakhand, including the man-eating leopard of Rudraprayag. Jim Corbett also freed people from the man-eating tigress who had killed 436 people in Champawat. But later, after changing his mind and seeing the decreasing number of tigers, he took up photography only. Jim did his primary education from the Opening School of Nainital and later took admission in St. Joseph College, but due to poor financial condition, he left his studies midway and at the age of 18 went to Mokama Ghat (Bihar) and started working in the railway there. [1] Jim Corbett remained unmarried throughout his life. Like him, his sister also did not marry. Both brother and sister always stayed together and shared each other's sorrows. Whenever a man-eating lion appeared in Kumaon and Garhwal, Jim Corbett was called. Jim Corbett would go there and return only after protecting everyone and killing the man-eating lion. Jim Corbett was a skilled hunter. He was skilled in hunting and was also a very influential writer. Jim Corbett's name is leading in the world among skilled writers of hunting stories. His book 'My India' is very popular. His love for India was so much that he was always busy singing its praises. Kumaon and Garhwal were very dear to him. Having a park established on the land of Garhwal-Kumaon in the name of such a sympathetic person of Kumaon-Garhwal is equal to offering flowers of respect to him.
