Today, Oleg, the pine marten, is getting his food packaged in a tube for a change, so he doesn't get bored. Oleg is still separated from his mate Martha and their offspring, as no one knows how the father marten would behave towards his young. Tabea, the red panda, is also having to adjust to life as a single little female. Her partner, 9-year-old Quincy, died a few days ago, leaving Tabea a young widow. Head keeper Michael Horn plans to give the dholes a chance to really let loose. Their food will therefore be attached to a kind of bungee cord. However, this new activity is being met with some skepticism. The new automatic feeder for the spectacled bears is also being closely examined. Things are quite hectic today with the kiangs at the zoo: Ulla, a wild donkey, has given birth to a foal that needs to be vaccinated against umbilical infections as soon as possible. But first, head zookeeper René Walther has to manage to separate the clever, wild donkey mother from her calf. A dangerous undertaking, as Kiang mare Ulla is unpredictable. The afternoon is considerably more relaxed for René Walther: his zoo colleague Christian Möller has invited him for a return visit to his section. René Walther takes the opportunity to cuddle with the friendly Przewalski's horses and is visibly surprised by how many different animal species live peacefully together in the South America exhibit. His wife, Claudia Walther, combines their zoo outing with a visit to the reticulated giraffes. A good opportunity to discuss Kibaya and Max's upcoming move with Martin Damboldt.
