LA FIAMMA OLIMPICA OGGI E' TRANSITATA PER TERAMO, LE INTERVISTE IN PIAZZA

An afternoon filled with emotion and participation today in the city, where at 4:10 pm the Olympic Flame made its official entry, welcomed by a large and cheering crowd. Following the torchbearers, the symbol of the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics passed through the heart of the city, following a route that began on Viale Crispi and then wound its way through the city center's main thoroughfares. A particularly significant moment was in Piazza Martiri, where the city's highest officials awaited the flame. The mayor, Councilor Ferri, the president of the City Council, and numerous local administrators were present, testifying to the institutional importance of the event. Bishop Leuzzi was also present, underscoring the symbolic and community value of the Olympic relay. The presence of well-known local and national sports figures also generated great enthusiasm: champions De Maggi, Di Gennaro, and Del Vincaccio greeted the crowd, receiving applause and expressions of esteem. The contribution of the many local associations was crucial, enlivening the entire route with music, color, and initiatives, transforming the historic center and main street into a veritable open-air stage. There was, however, a note of dissent. Along the main street, a group of demonstrators staged a protest against Israel's participation in the Olympics, expressing their message peacefully yet visibly, without interrupting the regular flow of the event. Overall, the passage of the Olympic Torch represented a moment of strong cohesion and visibility for Teramo, uniting sport, institutions, and citizens, while also allowing for the expression of civil debate. It is an event destined to remain in the city's collective memory.
