¿Cuál es el mejor sonido de piano para salsa? 🎹

In this video, I show you what makes a piano sound work for salsa music — especially when playing montunos that need to cut through the mix with timbales, brass, and percussion. 👉 Spoiler: there’s no such thing as a “perfect piano” — it’s all about taste — but there are certain technical characteristics that really make a difference. Here’s what we cover: The ideal sound: bright (but not harsh), dry, with little reverb, and a subtle pad layer underneath. Common options (Yamaha Motif, Roland), and what I actually use: Keyscape – LA Piano Grand Bright. My mix process: a touch of EQ to sculpt the tone, and a light compressor to control peaks and keep the attack present. We also listen to the piano solo and inside a full salsa mix to hear how it sits in the production.
