Is the Sweetwater Exclusive Epiphone Cobra Burst Les Paul Custom worth $1,299? Here are my honest first impressions as an actual buyer, not a dealer review. This is the Sweetwater exclusive version, not the Guitar Center model. You’re paying more here, but you get Gibson USA 490R / 498T humbuckers, the proper Inspired by Gibson headstock, full body and fretboard binding, an ebony fretboard, and a really nice hard shell case. In this video, I run through both clean and distorted tone demos, using all three pickup selector positions, so you can hear how the 490R / 498T set sounds. I also talk about: • How this compares mentally to a Gibson Les Paul Studio • Why looks and vibe actually matter more than people admit • QC reality (including why I had to return the first one) • Weight tradeoffs and real-world comfort • Why these pickups work great for ’90s / 2000s punk and alt rock This isn’t meant to be a modern metal guitar, and it’s not trying to be a Gibson Custom Shop piece either.
