Charming Disaster - Sympathetic Magic

Mysterious connections; a voodoo doll; a fateful seance. Is there any magic more dangerous than Sympathetic Magic? “Charming Disaster capture Victorian gothic creepiness...there’s a bit of Tim Burton gothic whimsy about the video, which finds the duo riding a ferris wheel in their finest goth garb, sticking pins into some bleeding voodoo dolls, and in the most climactic scenes, conjuring the spirits from beyond in a pretty spectacular seance.” - Treble Follow Charming Disaster: http://charmingdisaster.com   / charmingdisaster     / charmingdisasterband   https://charmingdisaster.bandcamp.com/ https://open.spotify.com/artist/1Rjkf... In August 2016 Charming Disaster flew out to Grass Valley, CA to shoot the video for "Sympathetic Magic" with filmmaker/writer/director Charles Schneider (http://cschneidercinema.com), whom they had met while performing in the Force Majeure Vaudeville show in Brooklyn, NY. They were aided by a small army of local extras for the seance scene, which was shot in the parlor of a Victorian-era boarding house. Cast and crew had to jump the fence to break into the Nevada State Fair, which had stopped letting people in at the gate for the night, to shoot the amusement park scenes. No spirits were harmed during the making of this video. About the Director: Hatched from an egg in the Year of our Lord 1508, preternaturally debonair director Charles Schneider is rumored by many to be the infamous Comte de St. Germain, but devotees know he is far more mysterious still. Charles has spent his life exploring the realms of the macabre with a mercurial, and sometimes comedic twist. His weird fiction and poetry, appearing first in deluxe European small press editions, have gained recognition by connoisseurs of horror and time-lost decadence. His book The Mauve Embellishments, a collection of stories and art, is now as rare as the calculated imaginary book which serves as the title of the collection. His twisted pen has also written about a dozen Tom and Jerry cartoons, many featuring a macabre plot. His film work is filled with similar dark visions of odd dream-like places. He was thrilled to work recently with Brooklyn-based band Charming Disaster, directing the videos for both "Sympathetic Magic" and the upcoming "Snake Bit" in a marathon three days in the California countryside. Rarely have a band and director been more perfectly united. Charles has appeared as hideous creatures and died in many low-budget horror films and a few you have heard of. He is currently writing an epic, old school feature film in the realms of which he terms, "richly embroidered Fairy Tale Fantastica."
