The Voyage; Holiday World 2026 Front Row POV

Built by The Gravity Group in 2006, The Voyage was built to be not what a wooden roller coaster is... but what it can be. I have been on nearly 300 coasters in my lifetime, and it is my favorite. It has no flaws... it's the 2nd longest wooden coaster behind The Beast, it is one of the tallest, and it is easily the best; despite the golden ticket awards ranking Knoebels' Phoenix higher (for an unknown reason to me). After Holiday World in Santa Claus, Indiana made a name for themselves with their 2 other legendary wooden roller coasters, The Legend and The Raven, they wanted a crown jewel; a star attraction. They certainly got one... The Voyage was perfect. What made it this way? Voyage is a terrain coaster... The outward run, despite the camelback hills hiding it extremely well, is uphill by over 50ft. the twister section at the back of the ride is the highest point... and after it exits the mid-course brake run, it gains momentum as it flys back down the hill. The ride's relentless pacing would never have been possible without this terrain, and it only adds to the prestige of the ride. Today, 20 years after it was built, The Voyage remains a world-class ride that enthusiasts come from all over the country to ride. It even has it's own event... Holiwood Nights. During this event, the Voyage becomes special: The trim brakes on the mid-course brake run are fully turned off... making the 2nd half of the ride completely insane. This is where Voyage became my favorite... a no-brakes night ride through the pitch-black darkness. Congrats, Voyage. You are another world.
