Two decades after the start of the so-called war on drugs, it is crucial to reflect on the transformation of narratives, language, and journalistic practices in Mexico. This process, defined by militarization since 2006, has shaped how we describe atrocities, while independent journalism has emerged as a space to propose new approaches. What lessons have journalists learned from the victims and human rights defenders they report on? How can journalists report without revictimizing their subjects?
