New Birds In The Aviary & We’ve Started Roller Pigeons

Today at the Bird Lounge we’re doing a full aviary update as a lot has changed over the Easter break. New birds are finally out of quarantine and being released into the aviary, including zebra finches, Bengalese finches and a diamond dove joining the finch aviary setup. We also take a look at the main aviary, talk through recent breeding attempts with the cockatiels, and what may have gone wrong with the eggs due to colder weather conditions. This is all part of the real journey of bird keeping, breeding and managing an aviary setup in the UK. The big update in this episode… we’ve officially started with roller pigeons. After being gifted breeding pairs, we’ve built out the first section of the pigeon loft and moved the birds in. This marks the start of a new journey into pigeon breeding, flying and eventually competing with Birmingham roller pigeons. We also talk about the launch of the Bird Keeper Network (BKN), a brand new platform designed to bring bird keepers together, with a growing library of courses, a strong community, and a central hub for everything bird keeping. Plus, we’re planning a UK bird room road trip from Lancashire down to Southampton, visiting bird keepers, aviaries and setups along the way. If you enjoy bird keeping, aviary builds, breeding birds, finches, parrots, pigeons and behind the scenes bird room content — make sure you’re subscribed to the Bird Lounge.
