Grave Records Updated at Cemeteries
By Jane Chanda The Lusaka City Council –LCC- has begun rehabilitation works at Ngwerere and Old Leopards Hill cemeteries aimed at improving the condition and management of the burial sites. The works include clearing overgrown grass, repairing damaged boundary walls and updating grave records. The exercise forms part of the council's efforts to improve the upkeep, security and administration of the two cemeteries. Council officials say the clean-up programme is expected to create a more orderly environment while making it easier to identify and manage burial sites. The updating of grave records is also intended to improve record-keeping and assist families seeking information about the final resting places of their loved ones. The rehabilitation works are currently underway at both Ngwerere and Old Leopards Hill cemeteries.
