75th Anniversary of the Hispanic Reading Room
The Hispanic Reading Room of the Library of Congress celebrates its 75th anniversary and the 78th anniversary of the "Handbook of Latin American Studies." HLAS, prepared since 1939 at the Hispanic Division and published by the University of Texas Press in Austin, is an authoritative annual, annotated bibliography in the humanities and social sciences. Speakers included James H. Billington, Georgette Dorn, Deborah Jakubs, Franklin Knight, Enrique Pumar, Charlotte Rogers and David Sartorius.
