Authorities say shooting in downtown Wilson motivated by revenge

In Wilson County, a shooting outside the courthouse today has been preliminarily attributed to retaliation following an earlier incident. The suspect, 21-year-old Abdul Mustafa, allegedly shot 19-year-old Latoya Lucas, who is currently hospitalized with critical injuries. Lucas previously faced charges related to the murder of a teenager. Reports indicate that Mustafa waited at the courthouse for Lucas, who is connected to a past shooting incident. Eyewitness accounts detail multiple gunshots heard in the vicinity, resulting in injuries to law enforcement personnel as they responded to the scene. Mustafa was captured shortly after the shooting and has been charged with attempted first-degree murder, with the possibility of additional charges concerning injuries inflicted on police officers. The courthouse, a symbol of justice, has now become a backdrop for violence, raising concerns about safety for individuals attending legal proceedings. Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant as they continue to investigate this developing situation.
