Great Smoky Mountains Spring Backpacking and Hiking Mt Leconte
Here's my latest overnight spring backpacking trip in the Great Smoky Mountains. Our goal for the trip was to hike up Mt. Leconte. We chose to go up Rainbow Falls Trail which was absolutely gorgeous and return to the car by Trillium Gap Trail. On the way down we did see the llamas that supply Leconte Lodge. Another great feature was Grotto Falls, which is the only waterfall in the entire park you can walk behind! Oh, I almost forgot to add, if you decide to spend the night at the top of Mt. Leconte I highly recommend checking out sunset at Cliff Tops and sunrise at Myrtle Point. Those two probably have some of the best views I've seen so far.
