Did you know that urinalysis 1, also known as EAS (Abnormal Elements of Sediment), is one of the most frequently requested tests by doctors to identify alterations in the urinary and renal system, and should be done by analyzing the first urine of the day? It is a useful test to identify urinary tract infections and kidney problems, such as stones and kidney failure. It analyzes some physical and chemical aspects and the presence of abnormal elements in the urine. Physical aspects: color, density and appearance; Chemical aspects: pH, nitrites, glucose, proteins, ketones, bilirubin and urobilinogen; Abnormal elements: blood, bacteria, fungi, parasites, sperm, mucus filaments, casts and crystals. In addition, the urinalysis checks for the presence and quantity of leukocytes and epithelial cells, as well as other abnormal cells.
