La SURVIE des chrétiens d’Irak sous l’État islamique

"IRAQ: THE ROADS OF THE CROSS" / On August 7th, Islamic State troops launched a lightning offensive in Iraqi Kurdistan. These extremists, who want to establish a caliphate stretching from Syria to Jordan, Lebanon, and Iraq, entered Mosul, Iraq's second-largest city, forcing thousands of refugees, primarily Christians, to flee. It is this community that we focused on. We managed to reach Al-Kosh, the only Christian city in Kurdistan that has not fallen to the Islamists. A city normally off-limits to foreign media. There, we were able to film the fighters of a Christian militia who have sworn to defend their city to the death. In France and Kurdistan, we tracked down Christian refugees from Al-Kosh and followed them as they sought asylum in Europe. Far from the promises made by Western countries, we observed that most Christians in Iraq have virtually no chance of obtaining a visa to leave the country. Other communities are even worse off, such as the Yazidis, a pre-Islamic religious community targeted by jihadists and who, unlike the Christians, receive no support in the West. Many speak of leaving the country illegally and joining the ranks of undocumented immigrants in Europe. For 10 days, we shared the daily lives of these exiles, haunted by a painful dilemma: to leave or to stay. #documentary #society #report A documentary by Rola FRANCOIS, Lionel LANGLADE, and Sylvain LEPETIT First broadcast: 2014 🟢 Subscribe to 100% Docs    / @100docs   🟢 Produced by CAPA Presse 🟢 Welcome to 100% Docs, the channel for all kinds of documentaries that opens a window onto the world around us.
