J. Püchner Spezial-Holzblasinstrumentebau

Siblings Gabriele Nilsson-Püchner and Gerald Püchner recount the company and family history in this article, which has its roots in Graslitz, Bohemia. After the war, refugees from the Sudetenland established a small music industry in Nauheim, among them the Püchner family. The family business is now run by the fourth generation as "J. Püchner Spezial-Holzblasinstrumentebau GmbH" (J. Püchner Special Woodwind Instrument Manufacturing Ltd.). In 1988, "J. Püchner Spezial-Holzblasinstrumentebau GmbH" was founded, with Walter Püchner's children, Gabriele and Gerald, becoming partners as the fourth generation of Püchners. After graduating from high school, Gabriele Nilsson-Püchner studied piano at the Academy of Music in Darmstadt and also studied oboe. Following her exams and a teaching position, she joined the management team in 1983. Gerald Püchner oversees the model development after completing his apprenticeship as a woodwind instrument maker and passing his master craftsman's examination in Munich in 1992. The company and family history dates back to Graslitz in Bohemia. In 1897, Vinzenz Püchner registered a business there as a woodwind instrument maker. After the Second World War, the family business found a new home in Nauheim, Hesse. Basoons, contrabassoons, oboes, and English horns are among the woodwind instruments that are still manufactured in the Nauheim workshop today. They are characterized by handcraftsmanship and knowledge passed down through generations. Vinzenz Püchner's original set of measurements is still in use. Musicians from all over the world visit Nauheim in person to acquire an instrument from the internationally renowned Püchner workshop.
