Their performances retain a unique, cheerful, and playful style, which retains great value not only for their ranchero style but also for the ancient pieces they include in their repertoires: sones, gustos, paso dobles, jarabes, and songs performed using the festive tololoche as their distinctive instrument. Los Capoteños were awarded the Cirilo Marmolejo Medal in 2004, which is presented at the National Traditional Mariachi Gathering held annually in Guadalajara, Jalisco. They have performed prominently in National Traditional Music Gatherings, such as "Son Raíz," organized by CONACULTA, among others.
