Stig Shift #76 (Aircraft Maintenance Adventures) and Explaining B787 systems (in relation to AI171)
EDIT.. Slight correction on my part in regard to the VFSG (Variable Frequency Starter Generator) They DO NOT have a built in CSD (constant speed drive).. they are regulated by Frequency.....my apologies on that, my mind was thinking in of conventional IDG (integrated drive generators) units Welcome back ladies and gentlemen, this video was very difficult for me to make. Not because of my shift it’s because of the tragedy that we saw with Air India. My goal here is to educate you on how the aircraft works. Not to speculate, not to guess and not to point fingers. My sole purpose is to uphold my oath as an aircraft technician and keep people safe on my aircraft. I hope this video helps you understand the Boeing 787 much better. It’s a very complicated piece of machinery, it’s a marvel of engineering. This crash rocks me to my core because something that technologically advanced should not have fallen out of the sky like that. I will wait for official government reports, and that’s the only true source of information that everybody else should be looking at. Take everything else that everybody says with a huge grain of salt, that’s including me as well. I have been working on the 787 for the past nine years, and I still have not learned everything about it. Do I still think it’s a safe aircraft, yes it’s still a safe aircraft. Do I think more scrutiny needs to be put on to find out why this occurred, also yes. Thank you all so much for watching. I’ll see you on the next one
