3UZFE V8 Swapped FRS Part 5: Super Cheap Locking Torsen 3.73 Manual IS250 Differential?!

In this video we break down a TORSEN (TORque SENsing) 4.10 differential out of the V8 3UZ-FE powered Scion FRS and we put the Torsen portion of the diff into a Lexus IS250 Manual 3.73 Differential housing/gear set to get better gearing and highway revs from this setup. This is probably the most ideal setup(3.73, 3.90) to save money and freshen up the differential bearings and seals while getting the revs lower for higher speed daily driving. In the video we detail out the torque specs for the inner section of the differential assembly, how to check the backlash, and what the ideal pre-load is on the differential after it is installed and properly torqued and shimmed. Moral of the story use only the OEM Lexus differential bearings 90366-50001 (quantity of 2), seals 90311-43009 (quantity of 2) for the Lexus IS250 Manual 3.73 differential. This will essentially turn the IS250 manual differential into a manual IS300 Torsen differential (minus the IS300 stub shafts) which should save you a lot of $$$ if you do it right. The removal of the FRS differential should be under an hour and a half, and the install is about the same about of time. the break down and swap of the differential components is about 4.5hrs if you take your time. you can get this done in a full day with a lift and all of the parts in front of you.
