La ville qui n'aurait jamais dû tenir

In 1968, scientist John B. Calhoun built a mouse paradise—unlimited food, ideal temperature, no predators—to observe the behavior of mammals faced with limited space. At first, the mice thrived, but as soon as space became scarce, violence erupted, leading to their total extinction within five years. Calhoun called this the "behavioral cesspool" and concluded that beyond a certain density threshold, social mammals collapse—humans included. Except that between 1940 and 1994, 50,000 people lived crammed into a citadel the size of three football fields in Hong Kong: Kowloon Walled City. And this society survived. This is its story. ___ 📌 Chapters: 00:00 Introduction 02:16 The Fault Line Between Two Empires 05:56 The Most Densely Populated Place in the World 11:13 The Behavioral Sewer 13:37 The Memory of Kowloon 18:06 Conclusion ___ 📚 Credits: Script: ARVA Video Editing: Pierre Terranova Sound Editing: William Tang ___ 🎞️ Archival Image Sources: N/A ___ #Cordobes #TrueStory #Bullfighter #Spain #Storytelling #ARVA #Bullfighting #Portrait #HistoricalPortrait #ExtraordinaryDestiny #FrancoSpain
