In this video, I'll show you the Lillaz Waterfalls in the Gran Paradiso Natural Park. We're in the Aosta Valley, in the municipality of Cogne. From the hamlet of Lillaz, a trail begins that climbs along the Urtier stream, whose numerous drops give rise to the waterfalls. There are three main waterfalls in total. The first is modest and easily accessible after passing the Geological Park; a second waterfall is reached a little higher up after a moderate climb. Proceeding further, you cross a wooden bridge that offers a beautiful panoramic viewpoint; then you reach the third waterfall, the most spectacular due to its rocky setting and the surrounding landscape. The return journey is downhill through a larch forest until you reach the village of Lillaz again. The Lillaz Waterfalls trail is certainly one of the most popular in the Aosta Valley sector of the Gran Paradiso National Park. It is well signposted. Its initial section winds through the geological park, where a series of monoliths accompanied by information panels help visitors understand the different types of rock encountered. Along the trail, a series of yellow signs indicate possible destinations and estimated travel times. The route is not particularly difficult, except for a few sections where caution is required due to the presence of wet rocks and short fords. The trail is circular and not particularly long, a couple of kilometers with a moderate elevation gain, but some steep sections still require a minimum level of fitness. Aside from this, I can confidently say that this is a hike suitable for children (with an accompanying person, of course), who will find plenty of interesting things to see and do. Guaranteed fun!
