SAMBO ARTE MARCIAL RUSSA: INTRODUÇÃO E REGRAS

(318) In this episode, Henrique Merloto begins a playlist about SAMBO, the Russian martial art, alongside Professor George from COMBAT CONCEPT in São Paulo and the BRAZILIAN SAMBO ASSOCIATION. We introduce #SAMBO, discussing the rules and some interesting facts about this #RUSSIANMARTIALART. SAMBO is a martial art and combat sport developed and used by the Soviet Red Army in the early 1920s to improve their hand-to-hand combat skills. The sport is similar in many ways to judo and jujutsu, but also incorporates different types of wrestling and various self-defense systems. The name "SAMBO" derives from the Russian acronym SAMozashchita Bez Oruzhiya, which literally means "self-defense without weapons." Soviet martial arts expert Vasili Oshchepkov is credited as one of the founding fathers of SAMBO. Born into a family of exiles in 1893, Oshchepkov also played a key role in introducing judo to the Soviet Union. An intelligence officer during the Tsarist and Soviet periods, he was educated in Japan and then returned to work in the 1920s. He studied at the Kodokan Judo Institute in Tokyo, founded by Jigoro Kano, and eventually became the first Russian to receive a second dan in the sport. This led him to develop the self-defense techniques of SAMBO, which were developed and used by the Soviet Red Army and intelligence services. Oshchepkov, despite his important legacy, died in prison at just 45 years old as a result of the Stalinist political purges of 1937, after being accused of being a Japanese spy. He was posthumously "rehabilitated" and exonerated in 1957. Viktor Spiridonov, a student of Oshchepkov, is also considered a SAMBO pioneer. Spiridonov and Oshchepkov independently developed two distinct styles, which eventually intersected and became known as SAMBO. Compared to Oshchepkov's system, called "freestyle wrestling" in Russia, Spiridonov's style was softer and less reliant on strength. SAMBO was recognized as an official sport by the Soviet Sports Committee in 1938. Fifty years after its introduction, the International Federation of SAMBA (FIAS) was officially registered and had the exclusive right to promote and develop SAMBO worldwide and organize official events. FIAS is headquartered in Lausanne, while President Vasily Shestakov's office is located in the Russian capital, Moscow, where he works with his team. Currently a member of the Global Association of International Sports Federations and the Alliance of Independent Recognized Members of Sport, FIAS is recognized by the World Anti-Doping Agency, the International Federation of University Sports, Peace and Sport, and the International Association of Sport for All. FIAS is now recognized by the International Olympic Committee after aligning its event organization and daily management to be compatible with the Olympic Movement and in line with the 2020 Olympic Agenda. The main forms of SAMBO are: CHILDREN'S SAMBO, SPORT SAMBO, COMBAT SAMBO, and MILITARY SAMBO. ⚡ I AM HENRIQUE MERLOTO. I HAVE DEDICATED MYSELF TO MARTIAL ARTS SINCE 2010.
